"In 1968, I leaped 29 feet, 2½ inches in Mexico City — and for nearly 23 years, that record stood as a testament to what a young man from the housing projects of South Jamaica, Queens could accomplish when someone believed in him and allowed him to compete. The children of Fremont, Hayward, Newark, and Union City are among those I have had the privilege of working with, training alongside, and believing in. I have seen what strong, safe, and well-resourced communities can do for a child’s trajectory. And I have seen what happens when those resources fall short. 

Rohan Marfatia is running to make county government work better for the people of District 2. His focus is clear: improve public safety through prevention and faster crisis response, reduce homelessness with real housing and treatment solutions, and bring accountability to every county dollar. Those are not just policy positions — they are the conditions that determine whether a child in this district gets a fair chance or doesn’t.
